| What
Is Migraine Mentors At Work?
Migraine
Mentors at Work is an educational initiative developed by
the National Headache
Foundation (NHF) and AstraZeneca
Pharmaceuticals, LP . The program is designed to raise
awareness of migraine in the workplace and offers people who
suffer from migraine encouragement and information on how
to manage the illness - a combination that could result in
reduced disability for the employee and reduced medical costs
for employers and insurers.
Workplace
sessions will take place at various corporations across the
country. During each session, a physician and patient will
speak to a group of employees about:
- Different
headache types
- Available
treatment options
- Lifestyle
modifications to help prevent or to reduce the frequency
of migraine onset
- Where
to turn for help and relief
Employers that plan a "Migraine Mentors at Work"
program are encouraged to evaluate the effects of the seminar,
and continue the momentum of the session by providing staff
members with educational materials.
